Wood flooring: Moisture and ventilation check. Bannister rails: We completely remove the old newel posts and mortise the new over the string assuring a snug tight fit. The newels are level, the handrail straight and the spindles level and centred appropriately. No screw holes and no protruding nails. We are the only carpentry company in Dublin that supplies and fits pre-finished bannisters with a stained, clear or painted finish. The bannisters are available in different variations of contemporary square or traditional style turned spindles and posts. We also repair and replace period style stair components such as ramps, easing’s, continuous handrails, scrolls, wreath’s etc.
Under stairs storage and attic storage/pull out units: Utilise that dead zone under the stairs or in the attic eaves. So many bits and bobs, books, boots shoes, toys, vacuum cleaners, school bags, wine, beer or CDs to hide away but not to forget. We will custom design, make, install and paint if you wish. Also available in pine, oak or walnut finish. Fantastic made to measure pull out drawer units with heavy duty steel drawer runners, a push and click opening system or traditional knobs or handles. The attic units include appropriate insulation around exterior of unit.
Wall panelling / wainscoting: Made to measure on site. This is not a kit system or cut out on a computerised cutting machine. Tailor made by a seasoned carpenter joiner with a trained eye for design. A fantastic way to really enhance your interior space. It involves a considerable amount of cutting and painting on site but the results are always amazing. Several designs to choose from (classic-contemporary- cottage). The panelling can be applied anywhere, any height and finished in any colour you wish. Walnut, pine, and oak designs also available. If you like an image in a magazine we may be able to copy it and make a 1m x 1m sample up with the chosen paint colour for you prior to starting a project. For great results we usually remove the existing architraves and replace with a deeper section to accommodate the panelling. A high base board/skirting incorporated into the panelling looks fantastic. Handpainted panelling is approx €180 per Sqmtr supplied and fitted. Every project is tailor made and unique so it's not possible to give an accurate price without a survey and onsite discussion with the client. We also make matching radiator cabinets and supply and fit ceiling cornice and coving. The client has a choice of paint finishes, satin lustre- semi matt eggshell-flat matt or gloss. Dulux - Farrow & ball - Colourtrend.
Doors/frames/architraves: Pre-finished doors and frames must be measured accordingly then selected and installed with great care and skill. The unfinished pine doors available can either be lacquered or painted on site. Most of the products available are veneered and factory finished so it takes a lot of experience to install them correctly without chunks of wood filler and screw holes showing. The frames must fit secure and level. The doors must be housed neatly with a tidy margin all around the outer edge. The locks and handles must be of good quality and work smoothly. The architraves must sit neatly with no gaps and have tidy mitre joints.
Decking: Designed and installed correctly a decking is a great addition to the garden. With a sturdy base and pressure treated joists the decking will last many years for all to enjoy. We always install the deck with a slight fall away from the house assuring it dries quickly after rain. The bannister and handrail surround is always fitted neat and sturdy. Decking is available in a pressure treated pine, cedar wood, and hardwood. We can build multi-level decks with stairs. Curved - semi-circular decking with a vertical board facia or a plain square deck if you wish. Fence panels are also available.
Warm board internal insulation and plastering: Save on heating bills!! Insulate those concrete walls, trap the heat and turn that heating dial down. 80mm is the spec providing you have the space! 50mm is most commonly used. If we were to insulate a bedroom for example: we roll back the carpet or cover the wood floor- remove the radiator and skirting board-loosen and insulate the electric socket-remove the curtain pole and window board and adjust the radiator feed. We then fit a new window board and anchor fix the warm-board to the wall. Apply 2 coats of skim plaster, re-fix radiator, curtain pole, socket and new deeper window board. We put the carpet back and clean up thoroughly.
Painting & decorating: A thorough experienced painter decorator is essential to bring the overall desired look together. An inexperienced painter can not only leave a poor finish but also cause irreversible damage to walls, ceilings and wood work in the process. The painter is the last tradesman on the project so it’s vital he masks and covers up all the new floors, worktops, fireplaces etc. There are different price ranges for painting & decorating. If you’re looking for a rented property to receive a good freshen up or a 3 storey Georgian property brought back to its former glory, we do it all. We don’t fill large gaps, we repair the plaster or wood work. Remember we are carpenter joiners too so we will carry out all the essential repairs prior to painting. We use only the best paints on the market e.g. Farrow & ball-Dulux-Colour trend- Crown –Beko acroma.
